Central Coast Shop Hop and Chemo Quilt

I was too busy driving to take photos, but three friends and I took part in the 2014 shop hop for the CA central coast last weekend.  We visited 8 shops Saturday - one was not actually on the list.  Sunday we visited the final four shops and again one shop that was not on the list.  Thirteen quilt shops total in one day + an extra 2 hours the next.  It was exhausting but fun.  We did our part to help the economy!

My best purchase was finally getting the open toe foot for my HQ16 sit down model.  I've wanted it, but just never got around to ordering it.  The great news is the "local" dealer will drive up and do the installation for me.  Yea!!  I used the HQ to quilt the 30's quilt.  I just need to use it more.

Sunday evening and Monday morning I put together a top my friendship group will be presenting to one of our members starting chemo treatments.  She likes Kaffe Fassett fabrics so I purchased a collection of fat quarters and put them together using a free pattern from McCall's Quick Quilts.  We backed it with flannel, did not use batt, and tied it Monday night.  I added minimal quilting to help keep it together.  Our thoughts and prayers will be with her during her treatments.

Thanks for checking in.

  1. I'm sure she'll just love the quilt and am amazed at how fast you put it together. Was it as easy as you thought it would be?

And I wasn't driving and didn't take any pictures either so I have no excuse. I did take a picture of all my purchases when I got home.

    1. The top did go together easily. Once the cuts are made, the stitching is quick.
